Week 6!
This week was tough, tough, and tough. I had four tests to get through and then a whole bunch of readings for my lectures. Additionally, I had club meetings attend. I almost broke down twice but I managed to hold my head up and fight through all the work. Nothing super interesting but that was my school week.
I was able to volunteer this week on Monday and it was much better than my first two times. There were a lot more people and the time went by quickly. We even ran out of work to do! I did learn how to fold utensils in napkins, though. I think that could become a very useful skill in the future. I did meet someone at the end of my shift! She is another freshman and I think we hit it off pretty well. She even invited me to a Print Club meeting! I didn't even know there was a print club but I have always wanted to make print art so this seemed like a miraculous meeting. It was really fun being surrounded by other art-minded people.
One big event this week was the Hispanic Heritage Festival which took place yesterday, September 25. There was a poet speaking and I did not realize she was Puerto Rican. Now, I have not met another Puerto Rican person here yet but seeing and listening to her work gave me a lot of inspiration really hit me in the heartstrings. I even started crying when I talked to the poet! I was so embarrassed! But I'm super glad I got to go and listen to her speak and even talk with her.
